Future Sharks! Three Outstanding High School Student Athletes Commit to Suffolk County Community College

Three outstanding high school student athletes, women鈥檚 basketball point and shooting guard Gemma Mendola from Babylon High School and women鈥檚 softball players -- both from Lindenhurst High School -- Keelynn Kelly and Kaylin McDonald have signed letters of intent to attend 秘色传媒 next fall.

鈥淏y signing a letter of intent,鈥 explained 秘色传媒 Athletics Director Neftali Collazo, 鈥渢hese student athletes are committing to Suffolk for the academic year, just as Suffolk is committing to these outstanding young ladies. We are committed to both their academic and athletic success and proud to call them Sharks!鈥

Gemma Mendola is an all-league point and shooting guard who plans to enter Suffolk鈥檚 Emergency Medical technician program. Mendola said she plans to 鈥渆xcel both on and off the court.鈥

Lindenhurst softball player Keelynn Kelly, a League II 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2021 All Division, All County and All State 4th Team player, said she鈥檚 excited to play college softball. Kelly said she intends to major in criminal justice and is looking forward to excelling both academically and on the field.

Lindenhurst High School鈥檚 Kaylin McDonald, a centerfielder, middle infield and utility player plans to major in liberal arts and general studies at Suffolk and said she is excited to continue playing softball and start her future. 鈥淚 would love to maintain a 4.0 GPA and win an athletics award,鈥 McDonald said.
