Ruby Jackson: Delicious Inspiration at Suffolk鈥檚 Lyceum Gallery

Ruby Jackson: Delicious Inspiration, an exhibit of sculptures, of 秘色传媒鈥檚 Eastern Campus Lyceum Gallery. A Zoom reception with the artist will be held on Monday, November 22 at 10 a.m.

Sag Harbor鈥檚 Ruby Jackson has created a large and distinctive body of work in wood, ceramic, paper, pen and ink, and polymer clay.  Her imagery is inspired by natural forms which she abstracts and explores.  In them, one can see her love of the east end, and particularly her interest in underwater sea environments.  On view are Jackson鈥檚 miniature sculptures of food and under water seascapes created in multi-media.

Jackson鈥檚 work has been exhibited in galleries in New York City, Long Island, and Sarasota, Florida.  Jackson was featured in 鈥淭akeover,鈥 at the Southampton Art Center in 2019 where she shared her artistic process along with her work. 

Jackson is a two-time recipient of the 鈥淏est Sculpture鈥 award at the Guild Hall Members鈥 Show (East Hampton, 2017, 1996). Her work has appeared in a number of reviews and publications including Newsday 鈥淭iny Food Made of Clay by Sag Harbor Artist,鈥 by Kay Blough, and ,

Jackson grew up in Queens and developed a variety of sculpture techniques while living in New York City.   After moving to Long Island, Jackson earned a degree in Art Education from Long Island University.  For more than a decade, she served as Assistant to the Director of the Pollock-Krasner House in East Hampton. 

Jackson is passionate about teaching art to children and has conducted workshops in the public schools, as well as for the Nature Conservancy, The South Fork Natural History Museum, and the Children鈥檚 Museum of the East End.
